Senators Build-Up
Remember a couple weeks ago We talked about the Canucks build up well today it's the senators build up. On the opening day they got the main thing they needed good goaltending and they got some with goaltender Alex Auld. Not only will he be a good backup he will challenge for the starting job. Then they got some grit other than Chris Neil and that was Jarkko Ruutu. Then they got more leadership with signing Jason Smith. Then they got forward Brennan Bell. The Senators lost Wade Redden to the New-York Rangers and Cory Stillman to the Florida Panthers. Senators GM Bryan Murray said he would like to get restricted free agent Andrej Meszaros under contract before training camp.

What Mats happened ?
Mats Sundin recently said in a press conference that he would make his decision on which team he will play for in the 2008-2009 season on August 1. As I expected he didn't but he did get his agent ( J.P. Barry) to say that there are even more team that have made offers to Mats. The all the teams that have made offers to Mats Sundin are Vancouver Canucks, Montreal Canadiens, New-york Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Colorado Avalanche, Los-Angeles Kings, and I don't know the sixth team. So I will get more info as the come. later...

York signs with new team
Former All-Star Mike York has signed a one year contract with the Columbus Blue-Jackets. York played 63 games with the Phoenix Coyotes in the 63 games he play last season he had 6 goal and 8 assists witch add up to 14 points. York was selected by the New York Rangers in the seventh round (136 overall) in the 1997 entry draft. I think it is another great sign by the Blue-Jackets. post your thoughts about what you think about the signing of Mike York.

Mats Sundin Still Undecided
Yesterday a Swedish newpaper reported that Mats Sundin had signed with the Vancouver Canucks. Mats had this to say about what the newpaper had reported "It's not true at all that I'm definitely going to Vancouver. When you're a professional hockey player, the money is one part of the total picture before a decision," said Mats. "But there are plenty of other things that play in as well. If it was only about the money, I would have already signed with Vancouver." I think that Mats Sundin will sign with the Canucks because look at his other choices Toronto, Montreal, New York, and Los Angeles. First Toronto they are in a re-building stage and it's going to be another hard season to watch for Maple Leaf fans so don't expect Mats to walk out of the NHL with a stanley cup ring if he re-signs with the Leafs. In Montreal would be a place for Mats to win the stanley cup in the next 1-2 seasons but that would be harsh to play for the leafs then go and sign with there divison rival. Be for the trade deadline Sportsnet Connected said that Mats Sundin does not what to go to a team in the united states because it would mean him doing alot of paperwork (transaction forms) so that pretty much crosses out New York and Los Angeles. So in Vancouver he would be the highest paided NHL player, play in a great hockey enviroment, and he would be playing for a team that could actually make the playoffs. Feel free to post your thoughts about what Mats Sundin Should do or e-mail me at hockey_talk @live.com
